The Weekend Warrior: West Oz Clarity

Posted on November 07, 2007 @ 3:57 PM

The tiny waves lapping the West Oz coastline last weekend made it pretty clear that summer is just around the corner.

The small wave magnets had a few little ones on offer with one beach break in particular magnifying and funnelling the microbial swell into fun little peaks. The sun was shining and the water was crystal clear - really beautiful conditions for shooting photos.

Mandurah groms, Todd Quartermaine and Aaron Rawlinson got onto a couple of little smokers!

Toddy’s girlfriend, Hannah got amongst it too…

The Margaret River Classic was held in clean 2-3 foot waves at Surfers Point on Saturday. Paul “Antman” Patterson was ripping despite the inconsistent conditions mixing up some big hacks with the odd barrel. The classic spring weather on Sunday was incredible but the swell dropped away to pretty much nothing. Margs lad John Davies ended up with the Opens win and Dave Delroy-Carr took out the Pro Junior division.

Breaking News: Yeeha, he’s done it! Mick Fanning won the ASP World Title at Santa Catarina Pro in Brazil this morning, the first Aussie to bring the title home since Occy back in ‘99. Taj Burrows and Kelly Slater were hot on his heels so they’ll be duking it out for 2nd and 3rd. Go TB!

Remember that horror morning out at Cow Bombie back in September? Check out >>ww::start, you bastard for a refresher. Some of the footage shot from the chopper was aired on Sports Tonight and Fox Sports and has since been posted on youtube. Heavy.

There should be some fun lumps around this weekend with good winds and a healthy swell forecast. Yeww!
