Adrian Buchan has beaten Kelly Slater to win his first ever ASP World Tour event – the Quiksilver Pro France – in Hossegor, France. Buchan beat Slater 15.73 to 15.16 in a tight heat held at Les Bourdaines. The final berth was the first of Buchan’s ASP World Tour career.

Bucho did not drop a heat the entire contest faced off against Dane Reynolds in the quarter finals and came out with a total combined score of 17.00 to Dane’s 13.34. He then met Damo Hobgood in the Semis and again surfed a convincing heat to score 15.17 to Hobgoods’ 8.83

The final came down to Ace Vs. Slater. If Slater had won the world title race would be over. But a focused Bucho went all guns blazing scoring 15.74 to Slaters 15.11. “I can’t believe it, to have Kelly in the final and to beat him, I am speechless,” Buchan said.

“It’s cool that it came down to a wave in the end, at least it made it interesting,” Slater said. “Truth is though, Ace was more in sync with it”.
